Caring for a loved one with chronic pain can be hard.

As a caregiver you are one of the most important supports for a loved one living with chronic pain. This course will show you how to best support your loved one (and yourself) through the ebb and flow of chronic pain.

You want to support your loved one but you're struggling

Knowing how to best care for a loved one with chronic pain can be very challenging. There are no manuals to help guide us on how to deal with difficult emotions, to not take things personally when emotions run high or how to best support our loved ones as they navigate life with chronic pain.

It can be a bit of a dance between being over protective and under supportive. We want to help you find that middle ground.

Let us Show You How

There are many layers to chronic pain and likely just as many emotions that tag along with it. If you are experiencing the following then we can help you to help your loved one.

Frustration

Frustration from experiencing the roller coaster of emotions that comes with pain. We'll help to give you a little context to understand pain AND how to deal with difficult emotions.

Feeling Powerless

There is nothing worse then felling helpless. That deep in the gut feeling you get because you don't know how to help them with their pain and you don't like seeing them suffer.

Push or Pull

It can be hard to know when to push and when to back off. It can be hard to know when to help and when to encourage. We will help you to find the balance between Collaboration and Autonomy

I don't understand

It can be hard to understand truly what they are living through when you don't live in pain yourself. Learning about the diagnosis and where pain comes from will help you to grow the pain management toolbox together. It not only helps you to better support your loved one BUT it also helps to dial down your warriors pain. It's a win-win!

Communication is hard

Communication is a skill at the best of times but throw in persistent pain and things can get a little bit more challenging. We will show you the 'Coach Approach' to communicating as a powerful tool in the caregivers tool box. The worlds leading pain researchers recommend coaching as being one of the fundamental supports in the chronic pain journey. We'll show you the fundamentals.

Your health is affected

It is hard taking care of a loved one with persistent pain and it can take a toll on your well-being as well. We'll discuss taking care of you too so that you can continue to be the best support possible.

Introducing 'care'

I spend a lot of time inside the chronic pain support groups and one of the biggest challenges the chronic pain community faces is getting the support they need from family, friends, co-workers and loved ones.

Pain research is showing us just how important your role is as a loved one.

So In this workshop we will help to break it all down for you. We will dive in and discuss what the latest pain research tells us about pain and where it comes from.

Then we'll talk about what to say, what not to say, and how to say it to encourage best outcomes. We will also explore ways to encourage, to empower and to communicate ways to move forward through pain together.

Here's The Good News:

Your care can go a long way to improving your loved ones experience with pain.

You've got questions, We've got answers!

How is pain education going to help me and my loved one?

Pain education is THE biggest gap presently in our medical system. Our warriors are  just not receiving the conext and pain fundamentals they need to make informed choices on their care. I believe pain education should be the FIRST stop on the chronic pain journey in tandem with the medications being prescribed. Why? Because 10+ years of research is showing us that understanding pain CHANGES pain.

How can this workshop help when we have tried everything?

I hear this question asked a lot. Pain is a complex matter which means there is always lots to know about how best to manage it. If your loved one has only been following their protocol prescribed by their physician then there is more good we can do. The latest pain research shows (and there is a ton of supportive evidence) that self care management is more impactful, long term, in helping our warriors to change their relationship with pain...and you play a crucial role in that self care management.

I have been supporting my loved one with pain for years, what else could I possibly learn?

If you have been in this game for some time, you likely know much already. This program brings together some of the science of the latest pain research and the power of coaching. If you feel you are missing any of those 'cogs in the wheel' then I invite you to join in to learn how to bring them together...it is powerful stuff!

Could these skills help with kids and teens in pain too?

Absolutely yes, although it has been created with the grown up in mind many of the principles remain the same.

What is the 'Coach Approach'?

The Coach Approach (as I like to call it) is rooted in psychology and is a strengths based approach to change management. Why change management? We know that tweaking certain lifestyle behaviours can have a massive impact on your loved ones pain experience. BUT making these changes can be hard and takes work, patience, persistence, know how...that's where you come in and I'll show you how!

How long does it take to get through each lesson?

The workshop content is broken down into into digestible pieces to consume at your own pace. Each lesson is between 10 - 15 minutes in length. You can consume the content at your own pace or go through it together. You have access 'CARE' for life.

Pain 2 Possibilities

What Our Care Givers Are Saying...

Wow! When I worked through the awareness exercise it really made me appreciate (even if for just a moment) how hard it can be to focus on something other than the pain. Thank you for this course, I look forward to being a better support for my wife.

John B - Entrepreneur

Watching my wife struggle with pain was really hard to watch, especially because I felt so helpless, not knowing how to best help her. I learned a lot in this program which has helped me and my wife to understand how to work together to better manage the pain. It is starting to feel a little more like a team approach.

Graham j - IT Expert

Thank you so much for this program and for all you do. It was a real eye opener for me to understand just how my words, my reactions can really affect my husbands pain. I am now learning to choose my words carefully! I look forward to practicing some of these skills with my husband.
