Living with stubborn pain and nothing seems to work?
Take the research backed, two part quiz to find out what the root of your stubborn chronic pain could potentially be!
central sensitization
Most researchers agree
Most researchers agree that central sensitization plays a role in many pain disorders, especially when doctors can find no physical cause of the pain. It plays an important part in Fibromyalgia, Osteo & Rheumatoid arthritis, CRPS, Phantom Limb Pain, Painful pelvic syndrome, Low back pain, TMJ, Migraines, Chronic fatigue, Whiplash and more!
What is sensitization?
Sensitization might just be the least talked about aspect of chronic pain but one of the most important. Central sensitization happens when you live with pain for some time. With sensitization we see:
- Changes to your central and peripheral nervous system that become over protective in nature and hyper sensitive to any stimuli coming in
- The brain overreacting to harmless stimulation, leading to intense pain feelings
- Clients living in a high-activity state which impacts all of our systems from sleep, digestive, pain, immune function, musculoskeletal and so much more.
central sensitization
What does it look and feel like?
- The pain persists long after the known healing time has passed
- The brain is (wrongly) told that more of the body is in danger and the brain therefore spreads pain
- The pain worsens
- It takes less and less movement to trigger more and more pain
- It may hurt one day but not the next.
- You have more pain when you are down or stressed or have the flu.
- Environmental factors amplify pain such as smells, or weather changes or changes in temperature create more pain.
- You try everything but nothing seems to work!
- The Doctors can find nothing wrong with you

Sensitization...What do we do about it?
If you've taken the quiz and you suspect you might have sensitization as a result of living with chronic pain for some time, here is the good news. Pain research and amazing examples of recovery are telling us that there is hope! If you've tried everything and nothing seems to work, chances are pretty good you have a nervous system problem. Chances are also pretty good that you've never been told this. We can work with the nervous system to desensitize the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves to feel less pain with research backed techniques. Want to learn more?
