Our current medical model is fantastic for treating acute injury but is woefully inadequate at treating pain once it becomes chronic (physicians receive anywhere from 0 - 12 hours in total of chronic pain instruction in their mandatory curriculum). We now know, the longer you live with pain, the more overactive your nervous system becomes and the more pain you feel.
